Safari print has been utilized in many different ways and on various silhouettes within the Nikecatalog, but many will associate it with 'Atmos Air Max 1' collaboration that originally dropped in 2002 and retro’d in 2016. In 2022, the iconic pattern will be resurfacing on the Sportswear silhouette, this time with a brighter palette that aligns with the Spring/Summer season.
Taking a play out of the Japanese retailer’s playbook, the Swoosh design teams touch up the mudguards and collars with safari print in a muted gray. In addition, the heels feature oversized Swooshes while miniature Nike checks are positioned on the forefoot. Uppers of the kicks are predominantly styled with “Cobblestone” overlays while the tongue branding, side logos and backdrops of the inserts are done up in “Worn Blue.” Down below, the midsole pieces are covered with a creamy paint job while the treading is styled in more “Cobblestone.”
